Tapestries
Very small, very detailed series of gouache paintings. I painted the first as a means of testing the style, harking back to the Unicorn tapestries. The subsequent paintings, were imagined after the death of my grandfather.
These were created as a means of eschewing my structural teachings of perspective, depth, and such basic “modern” art principles. Creating contemporary from the historical so to speak. They are still more or less experimental. If one were to search for meaning, consider the depth of femininity as something more than gender, a connection to the Earth on a plane other than physical, material handiwork in tandem with the “craft” arts - all together, imagine them as rending flesh from bone. One day I may have better words.
